Jack’s Paint & Hardware opened its doors in 1943. The store was owned and operated by the late Jack Cohen.

Martin Cohen, ex-SA Football player and son of the founder, Jack Cohen, passionately took the reigns, after Jack passed away.

In 1984, Martin decided to partner with Gerhard Waldauer. In 1987 the first franchise model was developed. In 1994 the first franchise store opened in Blackheath and is still trading today, as a Jack’s.

In 2019 Gerhard Waldauer became the CEO. He is the epitome of directorship, through his leadership and passion, Gerhard and his dynamic core management team are dedicated to growing and nurturing the Jack’s brand, further developing the franchise models, the relationships with suppliers and with future Jack’s Paint & Hardware retailers. Fast Forward to 2024, Jack’s now has and offering of four store franchise models and a national footprint of over 60 stores.

80 years of trading, and over 60 nationwide stores later, the Jack’s Group look forward to the next 80 years, of serving more communities with their paint, hardware, DIY and building needs!
